Overview
Lighting has changed more in the past decade than in the fifty years before it. LED has replaced incandescent, halogen, and CFL across nearly the entire fixture catalog, and that shift has rewritten the math on every layer of the install. Fixture counts drop because a single high-CRI 4-inch wafer can replace three 6-inch cans. Legacy dimmers designed for 60-watt incandescent loads flicker and hum under LED drivers, so the dimmer has to be matched to the driver not just any dimmer will do. Color temperature, once a non-decision, now determines whether a kitchen reads warm and inviting or cold and commercial. Picking the fixture is half the work; picking the control and the driver is the other half.
Exterior lighting layers weather, mounting, and control strategy on top of that. Wet-location versus damp-location ratings, proper bonding on metal fixtures, dusk-to-dawn photocells versus astronomic timers versus networked smart controls, motion activation for security, and decorative or landscape fixtures that need a low-voltage transformer and dedicated home-run cable. Fixtures, Controls, and Everything Behind Them
For interior work we handle the rough-in and trim of recessed cans, pendants, chandeliers, sconces, under-cabinet strips and pucks, closet fixtures, integrated-LED panels, and the switching and dimming to match. LED-compatible dimmers matter more than most homeowners realize we carry Lutron MACL and Caseta lines that play well with most residential LED drivers and save the call-back when a generic dimmer strobes a new fixture. For remodel work we pull the old wiring where it is undersized, add switched receptacles and three-way runs where rooms need them, and locate neutrals at the switch so smart devices can be added later without opening the walls again.
For exterior work we install security floods with motion activation, landscape and pathway lighting on low-voltage transformers, soffit lighting, wall-wash and decorative sconces, and pole-mounted parking or wall-pack lights for commercial sites. Controls range from simple dusk-to-dawn photocells up through astronomic timers and networked lighting systems that can be scheduled and monitored remotely. GFCI protection, wet-location fittings, and proper bonding on metal fixtures are part of every outdoor job, not optional add-ons.
